Morgan Patton

“If you are committed, you can fulfill any goal.”

When she was first diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of seven, Morgan Patton’s already tenacious, competitive attitude made it hard for her to accept that her life would have to be a little different from everyone else’s.

“I refused to have to make adjustments to my lifestyle, and wanted to live life like all my non-diabetic friends,” she says.

Today, thanks to competitive cycling, she is maintaining a happier, healthier lifestyle and still doing whatever she wants, when she wants.

She won the second race of her life in the spring of 2007, then spent the summer ascending podiums at Florida Points Series races. The past two years, she has been part of the support crew for Team Type 1 on their Race Across America (RAAM) winning teams.

Her training for 2008 was temporarily derailed in the off-season when she suffered double broken collarbones and facial injuries after being struck by a motorist who ran a red light.
